WHAT EXACTLY IS BOOK COACHING?
-
A book coach provides emotional support, accountability, and guidance for the writers they work with. This can be done in a variety of ways, but the three main pillars of my coaching practice are check-in, critique, and correction.
-
As a book coach, I provide one-on-one guidance and accountability through check-in calls or other means. Doing so is especially important for the coaching process because it helps clarify goals before, during, and after coaching sessions.
-
One of my primary jobs as a book coach is to provide holistic feedback regarding your work. All feedback is given within the intention of strengthening what’s working, clarifying confusing areas, and shoring up weaker parts of the work. In these ways, we’re preparing it to be its best for the next revision.
-
Similar to what an editor does, I give in-depth textual corrections on your planning materials, working manuscripts, and even pitching materials as certain points in the coaching process. Depending on how much feedback you’d like, I do my best to use my eagle eyes to spot any clerical or linguistic errors in prose.
